John and Kathi’s Wedding

Last night we had a short wedding ceremony at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lacey, WA. Very nice. The late hour lent a certain character to the outdoor shots. The indoor shots took on that golden orange color from the incandescent lights that added a warm and comforting feeling to the ceremony and sanctuary. All was in harmony with God’s will. :-) - Mearle

A Boudoir Session with Holly

This was how they should all go. So much fun with Holly just being creative, dressing up, and prancing about in the studio  looking pretty.  Unconventional by all accounts. An awesome session. I loved it!

Guess what happened a fraction of a second later!

So Fragrant!

Man’s Best Friend

Let me introduce you to my loyal sidekick Schooner. Schooner is named like other springer spaniels I have had - after my good home brewed beer. Before Schooner there was Barley. I have Porter also, but he’s another story. All are field-bred. That means instead of being bred to look pretty for dog shows, they are selected for their lust for upland bird hunting, well balanced with a desire to please their master.

When they can’t hunt, the instincts shift to an obsession with carrying around a shoe or teddy bear - and hoping I’ll throw it to retrieve. Schooner does this constantly! In the middle of the night I’ll sometimes hear him whine a little for me to wake up and throw the teddy bear for him.

The retrieve is what he lives for. No treats or atta’boys are nearly so good a reward in training as just a chance to make another fetch. He’s just a born work-a-holic!

Schooners’s normal behavior: Highly attentive and waiting for something to fetch.

Mey in the Garden

Tuesday we did a follow-up shoot with our newlywed Mey in her belly dancing costume. Poor Mey did wind up rather chilled but the photos were great! Thanks Mey for your great patience and cooperation. You probably didn’t expect to be climbing into trees. LOL.

Oh, well this is a pretty nice one too.

Striking a Pose.

Or maybe a bit of a modern touch to contrast with our oriental beauty.

Carolyn and Matthew’s Wedding

Our wedding yesterday with Carolyn and Matthew was at the New Heart Worship Center, a spacious facility than comfortably seated more than 300 guests for the ceremony and reception. What impressed me was that Carolyn and Matthew did not take for granted even one of them. They made it a mission to greet every table and allow guests to be photographed together with them.

Mey and Ramon’s Wedding

Mey and Ramon represented the “double happy” Chinese symbol for the joining of two families.
The day began with a Chinese ceremonial processional of wedding guests bearing gifts for the bride and groom. These were presented in a wonderfully personal and ritualized ceremony. Other short ceremonies followed, roast pig and assorted Chinese delicacies were served and then we headed to Pt. Defiance Rose Gardens for some outdoor portraits - in spite of the light rain.
The next stage was our familiar American style wedding with a few twists. Mey entertained everyone with not just one, but two dancing performances. First a hula dance in her wedding dress, and then a change of costume for an awesome belly dance in her exotic red Chinese costume. This wound up being a 14 hour day for us, a very long one, but one we would not have missed for the world.
Enjoy!

Prints of these images, and many more, may be ordered here.
